Aloe Vera and Irritable Bowel Syndrome
Dr Peter Atherton says in his book, "Aloe Vera The Medicine Plant" that the digestive tract is another major body system that has been consistently helped by aloe vera. Aloe Vera is used widely as a purgative but it is the wound healing and anti inflammatory effects that is found in the gel that is particularly beneficial to those suffering from inflammation of the bowels.
For those taking Aloe Vera gel taken orally there have been positive results according to Dr Peter Atherton but as with those taking is for skin problems the gel has to be part of an ongoing regime.
For a full explanation of the effects of aloe vera on the digestive system I strongly recommend that you read Dr Peter Atherton's book on the subject and decide for themselves before taking the gel.
Dr Atherton took a two year research fellowship at Oxford University examining the efficacy of aloe vera as a medical treatment and his book, Aloe Vera The Medicine Plant is highly regarded internationally. It is easy to read and explains in detail how and why the gel from the aloe plant works on a variety of medical conditions.
Case Study
"I have suffered from IBS for several years. Initially, I could not understand what was wrong with me. I had continual indigestion and always felt bloated, as though I was overeating at every meal. Finally, I could not stand the discomfort any more and went to see my GP who put me on various anti-spasmodic drugs. However, although they kept the symptoms under control, I continue to have flare-ups.
I began taking aloe vera gel in August 2001 and, even after the second bottle, I could definitely feel an improvement. Since then I have not had any symptoms and I can eat anything I like. It is fantastic to be able to take a completely natural product instead of prescription drugs which can have awful side effects.
Originally, when introduced to a network marketing company, I was interested in the powers of Aloe Vera and how natural products could play a part in improving the quality of like, at that stage, I didn't realise how powerful Aloe Vera was but am now totally convinced and will use it for the rest of my life."
